Job Opportunities: TutorNerd & Skyhawks Sports Academy

TutorNerd is a local tutoring company operated by former UCI students. We provide tutoring in-person (throughout Orange County) and online (with our virtual classroom software) for all major subjects and all grade levels. We are in need of experienced tutors who are motivated to work with our growing company.

We individually match tutors and students based on schedule, location, and academic subject. Plus, we pay 50-100% more than other tutoring companies - so this is the perfect opportunity for students.

Undergraduates - Camp Phoenix @ Newark, CA

Working at Camp Phoenix is like no other job--you get to teach kids in the outdoors, share s'mores, visit local farms, and see shooting stars together. Camp Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers low-income youth through academics, personal growth, and outdoor education to become leaders within their communtiies.

We're looking for:
  • Academic Instructor (AKA Brain Feeder) - teach 3.5 hours a day with 15 middle-schoolers and 2 TAs at our overnight summer camp! Math/science and reading. Stipend includes food and lodging for the duration of camp and starts at $1550.
  • Head Counselor - coach and lead a team of college-aged counselors to work with our amazing youth! Stipend includes food and lodging for the duration of camp and starts at $1825.
  • Program Manager - lead the social-emotional and outdoor leadership programming for our middle-school aged campers! You'll lead a team of college-aged counselors to execute an amazing experience for our youth. Stipend includes food and lodging for the duration of camp and starts at $1825.

The Energy Coalition

Recently, The Energy Coalition (TEC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a standards-based STEM curriculum to K-12 students visited the UC Irvine School of Education to talk about their organization and run a workshop for some of our undergraduate students. If you missed out on the workshop, here is a video demonstration below on how TEC helps students understand where our electricity comes from! ​
